WHY SHOULD YOU VOLUNTEER?

"I really enjoyed [volunteering at] Fantasyland because it allowed children the chance to escape to a 'far away' land, that was right there in their community. Enjoying the magic and adventure that Disney World offers in your own community is a rare and cherishable experience." -Jeremy Franklin, Wofford '14

"Growing up, Peter Pan was always a favorite character of mine. He has this attitude against growing up that any person can buy into. His sense of humor is wonderful and his personal courage admirable. I loved playing the role of Peter Pan and felt as though I could give kids something to dream of; I felt as if by playing my character well I could show them the possibility of imagination to take them to new and wonderful lands."

-Daniel Didok, Wofford '14

"Fantasyland is a great and creative event. I volunteered to interact with the children and help the Disney experience come to life. My favorite part was seeing the happiness and joy on the kids' faces."

-Elizabeth Rhee, Wofford '15

"For the first annual Fantasyland I wanted to help Kulsoom with anything she needed! A couple things we did were casting and preparing the characters for the big day, along with lots of planning and designing of the sets! Fantasyland is all around an amazing event! Watching the children laugh and have so much fun was heart warming, and something I can't wait to see again."

-Alex Hunt, Wofford '15

"I wanted to be a part of fantasyland because I wanted to bring the kids some of the excitement I felt at Disney World when I was younger. There was one group of three little boys that acted shy and didn't want to dance at first. Once I told them stories about my castle and all the balls we hosted recently, they warmed up to the idea if dancing with me. By the end the three boys stood in a line behind one another waiting for their turn. They pretended to be princes and bowed before they asked me to dance. After each dance they would hug me and then run to the back of the line to wait to dance again."

-Maggie Schwartz, Wofford '16

"The magic of Disney helped foster my love for imagination, and I was blessed with the opportunity to share my excitement with the kids who participated. Even the smallest role can make a difference; I helped kids pick out books in Belle's bookshop because I love to read and could be a positive influence.."

-Abigail Hoffman, Wofford '16

"What makes Fantasyland special is the opportunity to interact with young kids from the nearby community. Regardless of the cause, anytime you can make a difference in someone's day is especially priceless. What I enjoyed most about Fantasyland was each kid's mesmerized expression in response to the props and characters." -Kenny Barnes, Wofford '13

"I decided to help out because I wanted to encourage imagination and creativity for all the kids. I feel as though it is something that has become underrated in our time."   -Jacolvy Garcia, Wofford '15

"I helped during Fantasyland because I felt that it was a great initiative to bring a little magic into any child's life, and because I love everything Disney!" -Anum Ahmed, Wofford '16
